Senior Geophysicist

NAEVA Geophysics, Inc. is seeking a Senior Geophysicist to lead project efforts in the investigation and remediation of environmental and Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) project sites located in the United States and internationally. The Senior Geophysicist will be involved in all aspects of business development, project development, planning, implementation, management, and reporting. Qualified individuals will have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics, or a related technical field, and at least five years of geophysical experience in the MMRP industry. Candidates will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience writing scientific or technical reports. Candidates must have good leadership skills as the position requires working with varied field teams and interaction with clients. The ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally for proposal and project support will be required. Applicants must have a clean driving record, a Real ID and/or passport, and pass a background check enabling access to military sites.  All applicants should be prepared to submit to a drug test.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Engage in business development.
  • Develop cost for proposals and technical approaches for environmental geophysical projects.
  • Prepare, review, and implement work plans and MMRP QAPPs for geophysical surveys.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure geophysical surveys are performed in accordance with plans and governing specifications; attend project meetings and engage with clients.
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of      geophysical data collection, processing, and interpretation associated with geophysical mapping, including MMRP AGC methods.
  • Prepare and/or review geophysical survey reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics, environmental studies, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of MMRP geophysical experience
  • Familiarity with geophysical methods such as time domain electromagnetic, frequency domain electromagnetic, magnetics, gravity, resistivity, seismic, ground penetrating radar, gravity, and borehole geophysics
  • Experience with planning and performing geophysical surveys using a variety of geophysical sensors and positioning systems.
  • Experience with all aspects of MMRP data acquisition, analysis, target selection, and classification
  • Experience with MMRP QC/QA including performing, evaluating, documenting, and ensuring compliance with current guidance      documents
  • Familiarity with processing geophysical      data in Seequent’s Oasis Montaj, including AGC in the UX-Analyze module.
  • Experience performing AGC using advanced EM instrument survey data.
  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER and recent 8-hr annual refresher training

Field Geophysicist

NAEVA Geophysics, Inc. is seeking Field Geophysicists to work under the direction of a Project Geophysicist to assist in the investigation and remediation of environmental and Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) project sites located in the United States and internationally. The Field Geophysicist will be involved in geophysical data collection using both conventional and advanced geophysical sensors coupled with real-time positioning systems, as well as participating in the preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of field equipment. Qualified individuals will have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics, or a related technical field with at least one year of geophysical data collection experience preferred, but not necessary. Candidates will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and must be able to work well as a team member. The Field Geophysicist position is physically demanding, and candidates must be able to perform physical tasks in various temperatures and weather conditions for long periods of time. This position requires extensive travel. The ability to travel nationally and internationally for long periods of time is required. Candidates must be willing to work occasional nights/weekends, and travel on short notice. Applicants must have a clean driving record, a Real ID and/or passport, and pass a background check enabling access to military sites. All applicants should be prepared to submit to a drug test.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participating in geophysical data acquisition and reacquisition using a variety of instruments including EM61-MK2 and AGC sensors (e.g.  MetalMapper 2x2)
  • Conducting or monitoring daily quality control tests of geophysical equipment and positioning methods, and documenting test results
  • Tracking project metrics in an Access-format database
  • Performing field and office tasks requiring the application of basic geophysical principles and theories

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in geophysics, geology, or related field and      0 to 3 years' experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Access databases.
  • Experience with field geophysical data acquisition using a variety of geophysical instruments and positioning systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with Seequent's Oasis Montaj  geophysical data processing software preferred.
  • OSHA  40-hr HAZWOPER and recent 8-hr annual refresher training
